Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Holy cow! I am starting to believe the saying "time flies when you're having fun," is ABSOLUTELY true!! I keep saying I am going to post things that I have made or have done. Well, today is the day! (or I should say TONIGHT!)

So my LATEST project that I have complete & am quite proud of is this darling little outfit I made for my sweet baby girl. :) The entire outfit includes the dress, bloomers, & bow. I actually made the bow first, knowing that I would make a matching dress. The outfit was fairly easy to make. For the dress, I used a "pillowcase" dress that my daughter had received from my baby shower. I used that as my guide for how I cut my fabric. I dolled the outfit up and made it a little different than the dress she had. I used a pattern for the bloomers that I found online. (I'll have to find the link for that & give credit where credit is due.) As for the bow, I will have to make a tutorial because I don't quite know how to explain it with out pictures. So, with all that, here is my end result!!! I am super-excited about this project!! My sweet baby will be sporting this in the morning at church! Goodnight to all!

It's March!!

Wow! So, it's been quite a while since I have blogged... Time has passed so quickly without me even realizing it. I went home to see my family and since then, my computer has not worked properly. I think I'm having battery problems. I am currently using my husband's work computer.

Well let's see... Lately, I have done a few paintings, taken a few pictures, sewed a couple of bags, and have enjoyed spending time with my beautiful baby girl. She has 2 bottom teeth, is sitting up, and is well on her way to crawling. Right now, she is in the "scooting around" stage.

Once I get my computer up and running, I'll be back to posting more and letting everyone know what is going on in my creative world!

Until then,
Stormy :)

It's Sewing Time

It's been a little bit since I've blogged, but I guess that's what happens when I break out the sewing machine.  I have been wanting to make a little backpack style diaper bag. I think I accomplished it for the most part. I put together a cover for my baby's car seat. My husband doesn't think it is very practical because it gets in the way of the baby & she likes to pull on it. Perhaps it would have been more practical when she was younger.  I finally finished baby girl's petti romper. (That was a pain.) I ended up having to rip it out & start over.

The weekend is finally here for us!! Yay! I am probably going to finish up my sewing for a while. I'll maybe move onto some painting. I need to make a few for some people. This little post is rather short, but there hasn't been too much craftiness going on in my past few days. Later tator.

Be Mine!

Valentine's Day is coming up! 2 more days. I think the husband & I are going to keep it low-key, especially now that we have our baby girl. We normally do not make a big spectacle out of Valentine's Day anyways. I did put together a super cute outfit for our daughter. For Christmas, she got a red skirt with built-in tights. The skirt had hearts on it and I took a white onesie & decorated it with some bling. I also made a bow for the outfit! It's so fun having a little girl to make things for her!

This past weekend we had the inlaws stay at our house one night. It was a quick trip for them, but we enjoyed getting to see them! Of course, I had to take them to Cabellas to get a taste of their fudge!! Mmm!!! So good! I always get chocolate pecan fudge when I go there!

I attempted to make a petti romper before the inlaws arrived Thursday evening. I used this tutorial to do so. Well, I guess my little girl is bigger than average (& I probably did something wrong,) but it didn't fit. It wouldn't even go over her legs. With that said, I ripped all the lace out and am starting over. I am going to do it a little differently, but same concept as the tutorial linked to above. :) I'll let you know how that one turns out. I am really excited about it. I am hoping to have it done & looking like a petti romper so I can use it for my daughter's 6 month photo's coming up. The photographer I use: For10berry Photography. She's absolutely FABULOUS! ;)

I'll try to blog again before this week is over. My baby is getting cranky. :( Ta-ta for now!

New Goal

My new goal? To blog at least once a week! Although at this point in my "blogging," I am not sure that I have any readers/followers. Ha! Hopefully I will get there in time!

My mom, brother, & his wife come up this past weekend. What a time! We were pretty busy and got to do some pretty neat stuff. We went to the Stockyards in downtown Fort Worth, visited the mint factory, went to Cabellas- just to name a few! It's always fun for my mom to see her grand baby! It's always fun for me to have a little break (as I smell dried spit up on my shirt... sweet.) I was able to make a few bows while my mother had the baby occupied! It was nice to get into my craft mode.

I finished up my scrapbook this past week before the fam arrived. I actually finished the Mavs scrapbook & finished my daughter's through December. I have a few more pics I need to print from the month of January, but I'll probably wait until I have a February's pics before I start working on that again. I also made a baby mobile for my daughter's room. It was super-easy, cheap, and cute!!!! Need I say more! I'll post all that info once I get it & pics together for that!

It's that time for me to take my daughter's monthly picture. What I do is get a plain onesie and iron on a transfer that says how many months she is. Currently, 5 months old! I can't believe it! Time flies!!! That little girl has changed our world! I created my own transfers using Photoshop because they were simple to do. There was no sense in me paying for something I could easily create myself! I will attempt to post the transfers so you may use for your own personal use. I will list the instructions with it!

Well, I have a busy week this week, and some of the inlaws coming in towards the end of the week. I'll see what I can get myself into this week. Maybe some sewing? We'll see & I'll let you know! Peace.

Playing Catch Up...

I am obviously not the best at keeping up with this blog. I guess I'll give it heck and try to do this every few days at the least. It's crazy how time flies. It always seems there is not enough hours in the day. I often times wonder what in the world I did that day or where did the time go? I know I am spoiled in the way that I get to stay home with my daughter and that she sleeps in pretty late. She is on my schedule, but you know, that works for me!

Lately, I have completed a mini-scrapbook. The scrapbook was from our trip to the 2011 NBA Playoffs, Game 4 when the Mavs beat the Heat. That experience was the best sporting event that my husband & I EVER had! It was unbelievable! We had the opportunity to go Game 5 of the World Series the previous November when the SF Giants beat the Texas Rangers. It was pretty cool, but there is something about a basketball game that is so much more exciting. I am not sure any other sporting event can top that! I told my husband that the only other sporting event that I need to attend is a NFL game. I would prefer the Saints in the Superdome! I am pretty sure that would be a pretty  amazing experience as well! For Christmas, I got 2 tickets to see the Mavs & Celtics play each other! I am pretty pumped about that, especially since those are my 2 favorite NBA teams! I am excited to see this bunch of Celtics playing with each other & that Doc Rivers is still their coach. Also, I may have the chance to see a Kardashian now that the Mavs picked up Lamar Odom! ;)

My next thing to do is wait for my pictures from Shutterfly to arrive & start on a scrapbook for my precious little baby girl. I am normally a big scrapbooker, but with my daughter having a baby book, I decided to let that be her book to document everything. However, there is not enough room in her baby book for me to put extra stuff in there that I want. I got her a 3 ring scrapbook, pretty paper, and soem stickers to go with everything, all from Hobby Lobby. (Those HL gift cards that I got for Christmas sure burned a hole in my pocket!)

Why Can't I Sleep?

Why can't I sleep? Oh yeah, because I have my nights and days mixed up! At least my daughter is on the same schedule with me. It could be bad if she wasn't on the same page with me! So what's my sleep looking like? Well, not too shabby.

I went grocery shopping yesterday with my husband and daughter. It was actually a pretty pleasant experience. I had to return diapers that I received at the baby showers I had before my daughter arrived. The sizes I had the most of were 1's, followed closely by newborns. My healthy little girl is just now getting into 3's. We were in 2's, but she outgrew those pretty quick. I still have a few more boxes to return. Wal-Mart only allows you to return up to $50 worth of merchandise, if you do not have a receipt. If you have your receipt, then you can return as much as you want I suppose. Luckily I had my husband with me, so he returned half of the diapers and I returned the other half. Wal-Mart scans your DL so you do not keep returning item after item (security reasons for them.) So, that's my diaper story.

I am looking to go to Hobby Lobby this week at some point. I am torn between making a scrapbook or making a quilt. I think I am going to spend my gift card that I received for Christmas & begin a scrapbook for my daughter. I am pretty big into scrapbooking, but instead of a scrapbook for my daughter, I decided to do her baby book up really good. Well, there is stuff I want to add that I do not have space for, so a scrapbook it is! I am pretty excited about it. I will just work on a quilt later. Right now, it's time to gather pictures for this scrapbook that is about to take place!

Goodnight! ;)

Oreo Balls

What you'll need:
  • 1 package of oreos (15-18 oz)
  • 1 package of Philadelphia Cream Cheese (8 oz)
  • 1 bag of white chocolate chips (milk chocolate chips will work as well)
  • 2 tbsp of Crisco
Directions:
  1. Empty oreos into a gallon ziploc bag and crush into pieces.
  2. Place oreos and cream cheese into a bowl and beat with mixer.
  3. Roll mixture into bite-sized balls. (For best results, place in refrigerater to allow balls to harden & not fall apart when dipped in the chocolate.)
  4. In a small bowl, place choc. chips & Crisco.
  5. Heat in microwave for 30 seconds. Stir & repeat until it is melted.
  6. Using a toothpick, dip the balls into the melted chocolate.
  7. Place on wax paper and allow to dry.
  8. Enjoy!

That's What I Love About Sundays

Today has been a great relaxing day! I had a wonderful week, even better weekend, and a great day today! I have been catching up on my recorded shows and straightening up around the house. We left this past weekend to visit some family back home. I was able to spend time with my mom & my grandparents. My grandmother has sparked my interest in sewing. I had made my daughter a couple of outfits. She wore one for the LSU game the other night. When I was at my Maw Maw's house looking in her quilting room, she showed me this really cool quilt. I never thought I would say that about ANY quilt! I always thought they were boring & not something I would be interested in doing. After seeing that, I think I may try to make one! I am pretty excited about my next project. I have been looking online for quilting patterns for beginners. I am trying to find one that is somewhat modern. I have also considered designing my own pattern. I'll let you know what I decide to do.

I made my oreo balls tonight. They turned out pretty good! I'll post the recipe shortly.

On a different note, I sold my first bow this weekend! Since I've had my daughter, I have learned that it is easier (& cheaper) to make my own bows rather than buy them. Doing in that way allows me to have exactly what I want to match any outfit for my daughter.

I finished up my paintings the other day! I am happy with the way they turned out. I will post some pictures soon of my paintings. I think I have some more paintings lined up to do for friends & family!

I'm ready for the week ahead! I am excited about our Bible study group this Wednesday! It is something that I look forward to this week!

Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers

This is a recipe I received from one of my many aunts. It's easy & delicious!

What you'll need:
  • 1 lb of hot Owen's sausage
  • 1-1 1/2 cup(s) of shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
  • 15-20 jalapeno peppers
Directions:
  1. Cook the sausage in a pan.
  2. Mix the sausage, Parmesan cheese, and cream cheese together in a bowl. (It might be easier to use your hands to mix it up.)
  3. Cut the peppers in half & scoop out the inside.
  4. Fill the pepper halfs with the mixture.
  5. Bake at 425* for about 15-20 minutes.
  6. Enjoy!

LSU vs. Alabama

Well, well.... LSU just got upset by Alabama. It was like LSU could not get anything going. I also think they got out coached. It was not the game I anticipated and it leaves me a little shocked. My personal thoughts(not that they matter that much) I feel that after the first match-up, Saban  went and studied LSU and did what they needed to do to be better. I am not getting that feeling from Miles. I think that Miles just went with what he already had and didn't change anything up. I am just frustrated with the coaching and the outcome of the game. Facebook has been fairly entertaining this evening. Starting this morning, everyone is all about the Tigers beating the Tide. During the game, it was fairly quiet on Facebook. After the game, Alabama fans let us LSU fans hear about it and LSU fans were still loving their Tigers, just not the coaching and quarterback situation. Oh well, there is always next year. I am fairly certain that LSU will be back with a bang. We shall see!

As far as my cooking adventures, they went extremely well!!! I did not make the oreo balls, but I have in the past & they are delicious! I ended up making the red velvet cake, stuffed jalapeno peppers, and sausage cheeseballs! You can click on the links to get to the recipes. Hope you enjoy!

Now that my cooking adventures are over, I may take up painting. I am behind on a few and need to play catch up!

Sausage Cheese Balls

This recipe is super easy & has been in my family for several years. We use this recipe a lot around Christmas time as a finger food. My mom also makes them for us every Christmas morning.

For this recipe, you will need:
  • 2 cups of Bisquick
  • 1 lb of regular Jimmy Dean sausage
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
Mix the Bisquick, Jimmy Dean sausage, and cheese together in a large bowl, using your hands. Mix until it is all blended together.Roll into bite-size balls. Cook at 350* for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy!

What a Great Week!

Overall, I consider this week a success! It was pretty quiet for the most part and as the end of the week arrived, the more excited I became. Why? Well I am glad you asked. Thursday nights are back to normal with the return of my favorite shows, Grey's Anatomy being at the top of the list. Pretty emotional episode if you ask me! I find myself going from sad to happy throughout the whole episode!

Also, NFL playoffs are here! I am currently watching the Saints/Lions game. I am a pretty big Saints fan. (I was raised in Louisiana, so that is where that comes from.) The game is pretty close right now, but hopefully the Saints will pull thru!

During the first half, I started on my Sausage Cheese Balls and Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers. I cooked a small batch of the Sausage Cheese Balls and I will finish the Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers on Monday before the LSU vs. Alabama game. I got a recipe for a Red Velvet cake from my grandmother, so I am going to try and make that happen for Monday as well. I looked for a way to have purple food coloring so I could make a Purple Velvet Cake, but all the store had was green and red food coloring. So, red velvet it is. Also, I am just going to go ahead and make a cake instead of cupcakes. I figured that would be easier.

Gearing Up

I am trying to get geared up for the LSU vs. Alabama game! My husband & I are having a few friends over, so I am thinking I am going to try to do a few finger foods/snacks for the game. (We already decided on pizza for the main food! Mainly because it is easy!) I am thinking oreo balls, sausage cheese balls, stuffed jalapeno peppers, and maybe red velvet cupcakes. I will post my recipes & pics after it happens! :)

I have so much stuff that I need to do. I have a few pictures that I need to paint for friends to match their babies' room. That's another thing I enjoy- painting. I like to paint "initial" paintings to match their baby bedding. I will post some pictures of my work. I have also done a few LSU paintings. Geaux Tigers!!! :)

That is all I know for now. Can't wait to get this whole blogging thing down!

Welcome 2012!

Happy New Year folks! Over the past few months, I have decided that I would love to create my own blog. I figured a great time to start would be at the beginning of the New Year. At this particular moment, I am not quite sure of the purpose of my blog, but I (hopefully) will figure it out! As I begin to figure out the whole blogging thing, I plan to post more and make my blog a bit more snazzy. :) So, ta-ta for now!
